Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Parliament is a youth-run, non-profit organization which seeks to provide youth of this province with a chance to experience first hand the Canadian parliamentary system. Our mandate is to cultivate the critical thinking and oratorical skills that are vital to the proper and just functioning of any democracy.

Delegates from across the province gather in the seat of our government, the House of Assembly, to debate resolution prepared by their peers. With past topics ranging from the integration of queer-friendly literature into the public education system to the mission in Afghanistan, NLYP provides the youth of this province with a forum to raise their voices, ideas and concerns on the issues that effect them and the rest of the country.
Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Parliament will be hosting its annual Session February, 2012. Applications are open to students from Grade 10 to age 23 and are still being accepted. If you have any questions, please contact Victoria at session@nlyp.ca .
